Now here’s the ironic part of the CM9701 tablet from Shenzhen Careeror Technology of China – it looks every bit like the famous Apple iPad from the outside, but when you boot it up, you would have realized that something is very, very different. We won’t use the word wrong here since it does not apply (unless you are an Apple fanboy), as the CM9701 is powered by Google’s Android operating system instead – the same OS that sees action on other iPad rivals such as the Samsung Galaxy Tab. The only thing non-Apple about this? There is no Apple logo behind for obvious reasons, but the close resemblance is uncanny to such an extent that the black bar which covers 3G antennas is more or less in the same location as the iPad.

Of course, taking a closer look at the CM9701 will show off other differences such as a tiny camera located near the top of its front. Apart from that, prying open the black 3G plastic cover would reveal an SD memory card slot.

Chances are quite high that the CM9701 will not arrive Stateside, but since it did pick up FCC approval, it might even be in with a shout – who knows?
