Apple seemed to be immune to the world of viruses and malware for the longest time, but perhaps the company has chinks in its once vulnerable armor? Perhaps that is because of the mantra where obscurity is the greatest security defense a platform can have, which explains why Windows and their Internet Explorer browser have proved to be main targets of security hits far more often (and successful) compared to a Mac or Safari, but the latter have been targeted more and more often these days since Apple has gotten far more popular along the way.

In a twisted way, the first do-it-yourself crimeware kit primed for Mac OS X in the world was recently announced in several closed underground forums, at least according to Danish IT security company CSIS Security Group. This tool is said to allow users to build malware that will turn victim Mac OS X machines into zombies with but a mere point-and-click method.

The kit is known as Weyland-Yutani Bot, where it comprises of a builder which allows you to come up with your own malware capable of Web injections and form grabbing, alongside an administration panel and encryption support. The kit supports Firefox and Chrome at the moment, although Safari support is also on the way. Would you fork out $1,000 for the kit?
