You don’t know how crazy terrorist threats tend to come about these days, especially when travel has become so convenient and there are so many more resources to check out and take advantage of. There is always a threat of someone carrying a bomb and planting it somewhere, so an effective method to fight against that must be developed. We are comforted to hear that scientists have managed to come up with a nanosensor that can sniff out bombs one molecule at a time.

Michael Strano, an associate professor of chemical engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, managed to push the boundaries of nanotech in explosives detection. Costing less than $200,000, he brought it to new atomic levels, touting it to be “the last word in sensors.”

Strano’s system has been scrutinized by his colleagues, but they do have questions concerning Strano’s sensor in the field. Basically, Strano’s sensor will require one to place bee venom on a carbon rod, and it is good to go.
