Anyone collected stickers back when they were running around with snot dripping from their nose, and yet all you cared about was completing your sticker collection? Surely you would have heard of the name Panini, where their logo consisted of this knight with a lance and a red plume on his helmet. Well, it seems that the company is still around (although we don’t think it will be the next Nintendo), where their new trading cards will keep up with the times thanks to a tiny display that is made available for video playback, while toting around 2GB of USB flash memory.

Known as the Panini HRX (High Reel Xperience) cards, they might just usher in a revival of interest for collectible cards, while reinventing what was basically just cardboard beforehand. Your hard-earned dollars won’t bring you too far this time around though, as $20 will net you a miserable pack of five cards. Redeemable video card vouchers will be part of random packs for that added elemet of surprise, similar to rare autographed and holographic cards of today. Those who are lucky will be able to use the voucher to claim your video card, otherwise, you had better scurry up another $20.

Individual video cards will be preloaded with footage from a sports player and has 2GB of internal storage to store your files of choice. To put it in a nutshell, Panini HRX cards are more or less mini digital picture frames.
