Topshop, an international fashion retailer; recently installed a virtual fitting room in its flagship Moscow store last week as an experiment. The virtual fitting room, designed by AR Door, makes use of a Kinect motion sensor as well as a camera and a large screen to let customers try out clothes without going through the hassle of actually changing their clothes.

While the technology isn’t new, it’s still got a way to go before it becomes perfect. Clothes still look badly “photoshopped” on the customers and don’t fit their bodies accordingly. Alignment can go off at times, and they seem to be using one size for everything. And when people are in a store, would they want to use a virtual fitting room when they can try the real thing? Sure, it’ll work for people in a rush, but this technology seems more suited to folks who do their shopping at home/online.
