Fujitsu is proud to deliver the first biometric authentication technology in the world, where it is said to be so efficient and accurate, that it can identify someone in just a couple of seconds. This is made possible by merging data on palm vein patterns with fingerprint data from three different fingers. Doing so will let the technology rapidly identify a given individual out of data from a million people, although we are not too sure just how fast that would be when placed against a database of 6 billion people. Using Cerebro does seem to be the easier way, reverse engineering the process if you are looking for humans instead of mutants.
This isn’t the first time that Fujitsu has come up with something like this, but it is the most efficient and fastest to date. While it is possible to increase or decrease the number of servers that are used in authentication processing depending on the size of the pool of potential matches, it is more than suitable to be used in cloud-based environments.
In addition, such technology makes it possible to come up with a biometric authentication system that will need no ID cards, and it can even be customized to fit different sized groups, ranging from small-scale room access control to large-scale social platform systems. Criminals, beware!
