Blinky the Surgeonator

Everybody deserves a birthday party – even if you weren’t “born” but created instead. Which is the case with Blinky the Surgeonator. This highly advanced robot that has been responsible for performing over 400 pediatric robot assisted surgeries since its inception recently turned 5 and was thrown a birthday party by the folks over at Seattle Children’s Hospital.

It received a can of WD40 as a present and a silver robot cake to cut (even though it’s technically incapable of eating cake). While the robot handled untying the ribbons on the present with ease, cutting the cake with a scalpel was a pretty messy affair (though without a doubt if it was given the proper knife, it would have been a different story). Hit the break to watch the video of this $1.3 million surgical robot show you what it’s like to party without a soul.
