Get your vitamin cracks and jokes out now because it’s looking more and more likely that the NGP will sport the new PS Vita monicker when Sony shows it off once again at its E3 press conference next week. Destructoid managed to dig under Sony’s official E3 website and lo and behold, it found a reference to “PS Vita” in its source code.
First discovered over the weekend from a leaked pamphlet, Vita translated in Latin means “life.” As we broke it down, the name matches the PSP’s successor very well, as its focus is not just on gaming, but on incorporating lots of social networking features as well. The NGP is not just a gaming handheld, it’s a lifestyle gadget much like how Nintendo is marketing its 3DS handheld.
Of course, as solid as HTML references appear, it’s important to know that it could still be a ploy by Sony to cover up the device’s true name. Recall that the prior to the PlayStation Move‘s big unveil, the motion controller was thought to be called PlayStation Arc. We’ll find out in no time on June 6 at Sony’s E3 press conference. Sit tight and stay locked. Sony’s next-gen portable will be upon us in due time.
