Remember the NoPoPo battery that was powered by urine which we talked about four years back? Well, it seems that said battery will be receiving a new upgrade to keep up with the times. Aqua Power System Japan (APSJ) has just announced that the updated version of their NoPoPo (No Pollution Power) Aqua Battery, can now be recharged or “filled up” by soaking it in water anywhere from 3 to 5 minutes, making it convenient in a variety of situations.

We do know that the NoPoPo battery can run on other liquids apart from water, where among them include urine, Coke, and even saliva (!). It is not only rechargeable but recyclable as well, and can recharged or “refilled” up to 5 times.

Too bad it comes only in the AA size, as we would like to see different sizes being made available to the masses – using Eneloops from Sanyo might be overkill for your remote controls, but with the NoPoPo, it seems to be the perfect solution without having Greenpeace activists knock on your door to ask you to reduce your disposable battery usage.
