Gaming has advanced to such a level where smartphones these days are able to deliver an experience which would far surpass that of the first generation Game Boy – if the title is executed correctly, of course. Well, Joshua Noble has come up with a really cool type of game alongside Under (comprising of Martin Fuchs and Philip Whitfield), calling it the Receipt Racer. As you can tell by the name, this is a racing game that will not use an LCD display to show off all the action, but rather, combines a receipt printer, light beamer and old gamepad to deliver one of the more interesting racing experiences to date.

The moment you begin gameplay, the receipt printer will start to print out a randomly generated racetrack on a continuous basis over the course of the game, making sure that each section is the subsequent frame in an animation. This lends a truly dynamic effect to an otherwise static track, as you get to control the car left and right in order to avoid crashing off course or running right into an obstacle.

The car’s image will be beamed onto the paper thanks to a tiny projection device, and if you happen to carsh, it will explode into red pixels with the word ‘BOOM’ printed out. Lots of paper will be wasted though, so you might want to think twice before playing this game.
