Soundfreaq White

The folks over at Soundfreaq are back with a new audio accessory called the SFQ-01W Sound Platform, or just Ghost (it’s actually the same sound platform they’ve been selling all this while, except that it now comes in a stunning white). Designed especially for iOS devices, it features Apple’s proprietary port which will allow users to plug in their iPod, iPod Touch, iPhone, or iPad into the speaker dock to listen to music while charging it. However if users want to use their devices while still blasting music through the Ghost, it also supports wireless connectivity through Bluetooth A2DP streaming – but it’s going to drain your battery.

For those of you without iOS devices but still want to purchase the Ghost because of how sleek it looks: fret not. It has a 3.5mm input port which should support audio input from basically any portable music player out there, though you won’t get to charge it through the dock at the same time. The Soundfreaq Ghost is available now in three colors – Black, White and Red, and will set you back $179.99.

iOS was once upon a time called iPhone OS, or "operating system", which is the software that provides all the basic device functionality and is the interface between the hardware and applications. iOS was introduced with the iPhone on January 9 2007, and it was originally not intended to be programmable by third parties. Steve Jobs had envisioned that developers could create Web Apps that would run in the browser. This changed less than one year after when the iPhone SDK (software development kit) was introduced in October 2007. Today, hundreds of thousands of apps have been created for this platform. iPhone OS became iOS on June 2010. Interestingly, both iPhone and iOS were former trademarks of Cisco, that Apple now uses under a license.
