So you have just purchased a spanking new iPad 2, and you would want to do your very best to make sure that it does not end up getting scratched in any way. After all, if you had given up your kidney for a piece of consumer electronics, don’t you think you would do well to protect your investment in the best way possible? A surefire grip is always good, since dropping the iPad 2 onto concrete ranks pretty low on the “Must Do List Before I Die” for most folks. Speck knows this, and has hence released their latest innovative, protective hard-shell case for the iPad 2 known as the HandyShell.

This multi-functional peripheral sports a flip-out thumb ring handle which lets you hold your iPad 2 securely without batting an eyelid using just a single handed grip. As for its versatile handle, it will also double up as a stand for portrait or landscape viewing, and you can alternatively opt to use it as a carry handle, or be more creative by hanging it on a wall.

According to Bryan Hynacek, Director of Design at Speck, “We’re all really excited about this product. HandyShell fills the need for a protective iPad 2 case that makes one-handed use a snap. Plus it’s probably the most versatile, multi-functional case we’ve ever developed—we haven’t even figured out all the ways to use it yet!”

No idea on pricing, and Speck’s site is down at press time so we cannot check out further information concerning the HandyShell. What is the best iPad 2 protection solution you’ve ever seen for the tablet? [Press Release]
