Foursquare university badges

Foursquare, one of the largest social check-in services available has just announced new custom badge program for universities that are keen on promoting the use of Foursquare on campus. Foursquare will be relaunching the Foursquare for Universities program which allows campuses to offer custom badges to students beginning this fall semester.

Students who check into a place on campus will earn their university’s badge on Foursquare, and will be able to access campus specials (provided their universities take part in the program). I guess it would be a good way to encourage students to eat at the school cafeteria instead of going elsewhere, though I doubt it’s going to be replacing attendance records anytime soon.

University representatives who want to get their school involved with the program can get in touch with Foursquare, and students who would like to participate in the program as an ambassador can also sign up here.
