It seems as though Korean smartphone manufacturer is currently working on a spanking new handset for the masses which will come in the form of the LG Optimus Pro. This will be powered by the Android operating system, and while it has a full touchscreen display, that doesn’t mean there is no need to throw in a keyboard – in fact, the LG Optimus Pro will sport a QWERTY keyboard that makes up its candybar form factor, making some of us wonder whether they took design cues from the BlackBerry or old school Palm Pre devices.

There is no official announcement concerning the LG Optimus Pro at press time, although it has been spotted in the wild with some reports trickling in that it has already made its way to the market in select countries, with Italy being one of them at €179 a pop.

Hopefully LG will step forward and update us on the situation surrounding the Optimus Pro. It purportedly runs on an 800MHz (or better) processor, carrying a 3-megapixel camera with video capability and Android 2.3 Gingerbread right out of the box.
