It is safe to say that just about every consumer electronics device will need to go through the FCC’s baptism of fire before it is ready for a public release. Well, Sony Ericsson did announce their Xperia pro back in February earlier this year, so it is nice to know (and see) that this Android-powered smartphone will be ready to hit the market after receiving the FCC’s nod of approval. Of course, in the process of getting approved, the FCC also looked deep into the Xperia pro’s innards, revealing more information on the hardware specifications within.

This Android 2.3 Gingerbread-powered smartphone will also sport a QWERTY keyboard that can slide out – perfect for those who have yet to get used to virtual keyboards, and want to get physical.

Expect the Sony Ericsson Xperia pro to come with a 3.7″ display with an 854 x 480 resolution, a 1GHz Qualcomm SnapDragon processor, an 8-megapixel rear camera alongside a 2-megapixel front facing camera, a microSD memory card slot and 320MB RAM.

No idea on pricing, but as the device will support AT&T’s GSM and 3G bands in the US, that ought to give an indication as to which carrier it will appear on when it finally arrives.
