Memory cards are aplenty these days, and depending on our devices, we can own several different types of memory cards, ranging from microSD cards for our smartphones and tablets, to SD cards for our digital cameras, with some DSLR cameras using Compact Flash cards as well. With so many different types of cards, we would require a card reader, and thanks to all-in-one USB card readers, we would only need one, as opposed to a card reader for each type of memory card.

USRobotics has added to its line of USB 3.0 products with the USR8420 All-in-One USB 3.0 Card Reader/Writer. The company is claiming that the device is the first USB 3.0 card reader of its kind that allows for data to be read from each of its five card slots simultaneously and is apparently also the first to offer dual SD, MMC and Memory Stick slots. The five slots available include one SD, one SD/MMC/Memory Stick, one Compact Flash, one Memory Stick, and one SmartMedia slot.

USRobotics has also pointed out that despite it featuring USB 3.0 connectivity, the read speeds are currently limited by the capabilities of the cards themselves, with each slot supposedly detecting the native speed of the inserted card to transfer data at the card’s maximum rate.

If you’re interested in getting your hands on the USR8420 All-in-One USB 3.0 Card Reader/Writer, it’s available from USRobotic’s website for a price of $39.99.
