Mac users if you’ve had a hard time looking for external hard drives to match your MacBooks, look no further as Western Digital has come up with a new My Book Studio that has been designed for Mac users in mind.

The My Book external hard drive series have typically been made out of plastic, which isn’t a big deal, although some Mac users may be slightly picky about the color as the black plastic exterior may clash against the brushed aluminum look of the MacBooks. Western Digital has thought about that with their new My Book Studio, and have come up with an external hard drive that comes in a brushed aluminum casing, which is not only amazing to look at, but at the same time allowed Western Digital to remove the fans used for cooling, so not only does it look good, it is reportedly completely silent except for the sound of the whirring drive.

It also features Firewire 800/400 connectivity along with USB 2.0, although PC users who were expecting USB 3.0 may be disappointed, along with Mac users who may have been hoping for Thunderbolt connectivity.

The My Book Studio will come in three sizes – 1TB, 2TB and 3TB, along with software that includes an automatic backup solution, password protection options, and hardware encryption. My Book Studio will retail for $149.99 for the 1TB version, $199.99 for the 2TB option and $249.99 for the 3TB edition.
