For those of you who were waiting for the official Gingerbread update for your Motorola Droid 2, it looks like the wait is about to come to an end. Verizon has just released the details about the upcoming Android for the phone, so it should mean that the update is just around the corner. Besides the usual advantages of having Android 2.3 Gingerbread, the update will also introduce a host of new features for the Droid 2 as well.
Some of the additional features the update brings include: a new download manager app, app and power management details, multi-touch key-chording (the ability to enter numbers and symbols with shortcut combos without having to change to the numeric keyboard mode), improved email app, Google Books and VCAST Apps now preloaded, as well as the usual assortment of bug fixes. Get more info from the official Verizon website. If you do get the update notification, do let us know. As usual, don’t forget to back up your phone!
