Given the times that we live in, it is not surprising to see people owning a wide variety of gadgets – from tablets, smartphones, ebook readers, digital cameras, MP3 players, portable gaming consoles, etc. Along with the plethora of gadgets comes a variety of different formats of storage which can range from SD cards, microSD cards and CF cards which means that when we want to transfer the data on our gadgets to our computer, we would require a card reader.

Just last month we reported that USRobotics launched a USB 3.0 all-in-one card reader and it looks like Kingston has hopped aboard the USB 3.0 train as well with their latest offering, the FCR-H3 USB 3.0 Media Reader. Thanks to the USB 3.0 interface, Kingston is claiming that the card reader should be able to transfer data at high speeds of 5Gb/s. For those without USB 3.0 on their computers not to worry as the FCR-H3 is also said to be backwards compatible with USB 2.0.

The Kingston FCR-H3 USB 3.0 Media Reader is available for $45 and will support the following card formats:

  • CompactFlash
