Love the taste of wireless payment systems? Well, you might be pleased then to hear that Kyocera Echo’s upcoming Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread update will be bringing NFC (Near Field Communication) capability to the smartphone this August 1st, where among the other goodies would be a free upgrade to the Swype 3.0 virtual keypad complete with Tap Correction and Horizontal Word Choice List (predictive text), a better Downloads application that offers easy access to any downloaded file, pinch-to-zoom capability across the Browser, Gallery, Maps, & Sprint Navigation, and voice calls over Wi-Fi amongst others.

NFC capability isn’t good only for contactless payments, but the NFC Reader will also let you interact with posters, advertisements, and products among others if companies were to take advantage of the feature. There is also the Echo Mode customized app from Kyocera which helps you manage your Echo’s battery life, where you are able to pre-set just how much battery is left on your phone before it enters low-power-consumption mode. Nothing to shout about here as other phones already have that feature though.

Good luck with the update, and as always, make a backup of everything beforehand.
