The LG LSM-100 might seem to you like an ordinary mouse at first glance, but upon closer inspection of its underbelly, you would have realized that this is also a scanner. Is this a mouse that scans, or can you call it a portable scanner with built-in mouse capability? I guess it really depends on which side of the fence you stand on, but semantics aside, the LG LSM-100 is LG’s maiden outing into the scanner and mouse combo. Frankly, this particular niche is severely underpopulated, so LG can be said to have first mover advantage.

Being a standard laser mouse that ought to keep most office drones happy, the LG LSM-100 sports a scanner that can save documents into PNG, JPEG, TIFF, BMP, PDF, XLS and DPC formats – working well with documents of up to A3 size, sporting fast pass-over rates for smooth scanning.

Not only that, it comes with LG’s very own Optical Character Recognition technology that will be able to change scanned text into a Microsoft Word document, letting you edit it on-the-fly, so that you can save time typing that document out all over again. No idea on pricing, but it seems to be one curious peripheral that I would love to get my hands on.
