If you think that your current keyboard is functional, but it somewhat lacks a particular “oomph” to the situation, you might be interested to know that there are other keyboards out there which will not only turn heads, but work just great as well. The Minebea Cool Leaf USB Keyboard that started out as a concept is finally realized in the flesh, boasting an entirely flat crystal-clear surface in place of where the keys should be. Yes, it is not an optical illusion, as your fingers will no longer dance over the traditional QWERTY layout with haptic feedback to let you know you’ve pressed them, but rather, the QWERTY layout will be represented under a layer of touch sensitive glass. One advantage of this after you’ve gotten used to it? It makes no sound whatsoever whenever your hands glide over it.

The Minebea Cool Leaf USB Keyboard will also turn up the coolness factor by another notch as it can light up from within, letting you enjoy a typing experience quite unlike anything you have gone through before. At least this is spill proof to a certain extent, and you need not worry about miniature dust bunnies starting families under the keys, right? It is a snap to wipe clean, and will also double up as a mirror of sorts during emergencies – just don’t let your boss sneak up on you while you’re busy daydreaming at the office! One thing’s for sure though – the Minebea Cool Leaf USB Keyboard is not going to come cheap at $471 a pop.
