Earlier today, we reported about the rumors of a new handheld console by Nintendo for 2012, well it looks like the new design might be unveiled sooner than we thought. The folks over at the Wall Street Journal reported that Nintendo is currently planning a “Nintendo Conference” that is scheduled to happen on September 13th, and at the event, the company is expected to include a big announcement concerning the 3DS.

At the moment there is no solid evidence to back up any of these rumors or speculations, but analysts believe that Nintendo is in dire need of a new product to make up for the disappointment that the 3DS has been, so the unveiling of a new product at this “Nintendo Conference” makes sense. However, since anything is possible right now, the 3DS-related announcement could just be the arrival of a new game, or even the previously mentioned “second circle pad” for the device (though I doubt Nintendo would make such a big fuss over it). Stay tuned and we’ll keep you in the know.
