Olympus has just announced their latest model that also boasts of a superlative – at press time, it is the smallest Ultra Zoom model of its kind in the world that has more than 30x capability. Ladies and gentlemen, presenting the Olympus SP-810UZ. With a 36x ultra-zoom lens, the SP-810Z will hit store shelves this coming September 2011.

Thanks to its high-magnification zoom lens, this puppy is capable of covering a remarkably wide shooting range, with focal lengths from 24mm wide-angle to 864mm telephoto. All of it is crammed into a compact, palm-size camera that offers performance which might hit SLR quality at certain levels, minus the bulk of course.

You can say that the SP-810UZ is the perfect beginner’s camera which is also powerful to boot, letting one experience the wonders of advanced photography right out of the box without having to attend photography classes. If you want to shoot movies, you can do so with the dedicated Movie REC button, where it will store all your memories in (MPEG-4 AVC/H.264) recordings at 720p resolution.

Olympus also jumped aboard the 3D bandwagon with the SP-810UZ, where you are able to shoot dynamic 3D photos in any mode, ranging from macro to landscape. You will be able to enjoy the fruits of your labor (or rather, the camera’s hard work) by viewing them over a compatible 3DTV or computer. [Press Release]
