MPVs generally aren’t associated with being “cool”, and many seem to associate it with soccer moms fetching kids to and fro soccer games, however we think you may change your mind about MPVs when you see Peugeot’s HX1 concept car (pictured above) which seems to be reminiscent of the Honda Odyssey, albeit a lot cooler.

Despite it being designed as an MPV, the HX1 is on the short side in terms of height, measuring in at 54” which contributes to its aerodynamic factor. It comes with a retractable spoiler at the back of the car and the doors open up Lamborghini style without the middle pillar (the piece of metal that separates the front and back doors), making it a breeze to get in and out the car.

It’s even smart enough to detect when you need the extra help with speed as the spoiler and the side skirts will automatically deploy when it detects you are driving at speeds above 100km/h.

Under the hood it appears that the HX1 is a hybrid vehicle featuring a 2.2 liter diesel engine along with a 95 horsepower electric motor, which is said to result in a total of 299 horsepower. It even features an electric-only mode with a range of 30km.

Rather impressive features, but then again we expect nothing less of concept vehicles. It is expected to debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show this year, although as to whether it will eventually get made remains to be seen.
