If you are an avid fan of the Spyro the Dragon series of video games, then you will be pleased as punch to hear that there is a new Portal of Power accessory coming your way, specially developed for the Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure game. Well, glad to say this Portal of Power has arrived at the FCC, which means it will be out in time for the game release on the PS3 and Xbox 360 platforms. Just what the heck is the Portal of Power? Well, it is nowhere near as powerful as Sauron’s One Ring, nor does it contain the power of Mjolnir, but the Portal of Power is good enough for us mortals considering it is RFID-enabled and will respond when action figures are placed right on top.
Yup, you read that right – whenever you place the right action figure on top, it will unlock various characters in the game – and it can also help save player data such as points if so required. The game will ship with a trio of 3 action figures to get you started, where another 29 will be available in the end. Smells like a money making scam to me, and it will be interesting to see just how the entire marketing plan will push Skylanders to the masses. Do you think it will do well?
