Casual games are a real cash cow, especially for companies that keep rolling them out. Roku’s range of streaming boxes will be on the receiving end of another seven more casual games, where they were all internally developed by Accedo. Among the titles include Dracula’s Coffin, Texas Hold ‘em, Sudoku (a must in any collection I guess), Rockswap Adventures, Patience, Kaboom and the weirdly named Mahjong Fruits.
These are readily available in the Roku Channel Store, where they will cost just $0.99 apiece. You definitely will not get epic levels of action such as Angry Birds since the majority of them are puzzlers to tickle your gray matter. Figuring out the games should not be too much of an issue – Rockswap Adventures seems to be a Bejeweled clone, while Patience is actually a version of solitaire with Kaboom being very similar in nature to Minesweeper.
All of Roku’s new casual games will accompany the release of the latest version of devices, where they deliver smoother graphics capabilities and a gaming controller that stashes an accelerometer inside. Hopefully other more interesting titles will roll out in the future!
