[CES 2011] The HP Pavilion dm1-3020us is the only one brand new notebook launched by HP at CES. This year, HP is not launching that many new laptops during the show, but mostly refreshing existing products with new designs. The 11.6-inch dm1 – 3020us is the latest upgrade of the HP ultraportable dm1z series featuring the new low-power (18W) “Zacate” AMD Fusion APU (Accelerated Processing Unit) which combines the AMD E-350 1.6 Ghz dual-core processor with the AMD Radeon HD 6310 graphics processor in a single chip.
The new Pavilion dm1 “has the portability of a netbook and the performances of a notebook – you are getting full 1080p HD playback performance, so you are able to download video, watch video, do multitasking and still get long battery life – you can play video in full screen mode, something you could not do with a netbook without jittering” said Cara Baez, HP Product Manager.
Thanks to the relatively fast AMD Radeon HD 6310 integrated GPU, the main processor (CPU) will not have to sweat too much to run that HD video smoothly. It can also run popular games in a decent although not optimum way. More info about the “Zacate” AMD Fusion APU and benchmark on the PC.
The HP Pavilion dm1 should be available on Jan. 9 in the US at a starting price of $449.99.
