One of the modern wonders of owning a mobile phone would be caller identification – with this, you are able to filter out any incoming calls whom you do not want to receive without having to pick it up ala old school landline style, only to realize it is Aunt Petunia on the other line whom you have been trying to avoid for the longest time. Well, if you think avoiding cold calls and persistent telemarketers are annoying enough as it is already, spare a thought for this poor guy who had his ex-girlfriend (a 42-year old lady) call him a whopping 65,000 times in the past year.

The poor sod, who is 62, could no longer take the mental torture that he decided to file a police complaint last month to address this particularly nagging issue of persistent phone calls. The authorities got the job done in a jiffy though, having arrested the suspected stalker earlier this week, taking along with them a bunch of phones and computers Monday, seizing several cell phones and computers from her home in Rotterdam in the process.

According to Hague prosecution spokeswoman Nicolette Stoel, the lady claimed she was in a relationship with the man, but the man vehemently denied such a relationship having occurred between them. The court’s order? She is not to contact him again. Hopefully she doesn’t resort to spamming his Facebook wall or Twitter account after that…
