Build-A-Bear Workshop will be working paw-in-hand with Microsoft on Kinectimals in a build-and-scan promotion. Starting from October 11 onwards, Build-A-Bear Workshops and buildabear.com will feature a quartet of bears that you see above, where you can bring them home for $18 apiece, and make sure they all feature the “Microsoft Tag technology” that basically enables you to scan the cuddly Care Bear clones with Kinect in order to unlock a matching bear in the game later on.

The four bears will definitely need some help in naming their future offspring, since they don’t exactly invoke a sense of love. I mean, Champ — A Champion Fur Kids? How about the rather obvious Colorful Hearts Bear, or a slightly more feminine Endless Hearts Teddy, with the Peace & Hearts Bear probably boycotting all forms of war? While these won’t shine a rainbow from their bellies, they will offer yet another dimension as to how Kinect technology is applied. [Press Release]
