LG achieves another world’s first with the 55LW9800 passive 3DTV being the first 3D TV in the world that has achieved the much sought after THX 3D display certification. This nano Full LED model is extremely slim, where it will also support the LG Smart TV platform that boasts of wireless connectivity to online content all without having to go through a computer – just in case you actually run out of stuff to watch on TV, right?

In order to achieve such certification, the 55LW9800 had to go through over 400 THX tests that evaluated left and right eye images for color accuracy, cross-talk, viewing angles and video processing performance. Having met those, it means the 55LW9800 will always deliver the correct gamma, luminance and color temperature – I guess a TV like this is only suitable for those who have very high standards in life, and will complain at any little shortcoming – perceived or otherwise.

If you’re interested in bringing this puppy home, then expect to fork out $3,799.99 for the 55″ 55LW9800. [Press Release]
