Don’t think that Nokia is out of the smartphone game just yet – their shift in allegiance to Windows Phone 7 might just prove to be a masterstroke in hindsight, but before that can happen, we must of course see some tangible results arrive in the form of Windows Phone-powered smartphones from Nokia. We do know that Nokia’s upcoming Windows Phone 7.5 Mango smartphone will be known as Searay (its current codename), but perhaps the Finnish phone company wants to make more of an impact with yet another model – the Nokia Sabre.

Rumored to sport a 3.7″ display alongside the ability to support microSIM cards, there is no further information for us to work on an angle at press time. What we do know is this – both the Sabre and the Searay could very well be potential prizes in a Microsoft Canada Mango competition that states, “The estimated retail value of the phone is $600.00. The type of Windows Phone 7.5 will vary and will be selected at Microsoft’s choosing (examples include Samsung Yukon, Samsung Wembley, NOKIA Searay and NOKIA Sabre).”

Interesting, no? Let’s see how Nokia’s strategy is going to pan out in the long run.
