Remember the BigDog robot from Boston Dynamics that is still something to look at even today? Well, it seems that the company have managed to cobble together a two legged version of the BigDog, calling it PETMAN – short for Protection Ensemble Test Mannequin. Taking a good 13 months to design it as well as 17 months to build, this man-sized robot is capable of moving around just like a human being in a creepy manner, retaining its balance even when pushed. What is the purpose of the PETMAN? Well, it is meant to test clothing which will in turn be used by our men on the battlefield. Do watch the video after the jump to see some of the PETMAN’s antics as well as capabilities – it and the BigDog make quite the charming pair, don’t you think so?
