Remember the Flintstones? That was a cartoon that will certainly go down as a classic in my books, where old school interpretations of modern day designs always brought a smile to my face. Back then, I never really figured out that it would be impossible to lift a car made out, nay, carved out of stone, let alone run with it, with a dinosaur in tow. Guess imagination dies slowly as we grow older, right?

DIY enthusiast Daniel Fleischman is pretty experienced at designing and building pedal-powered vehicles thanks to just PVC tubes, doing so for a living at his company, American Speedster. His site shows off all the plans necessary as well as component kits available – you just need to hand over a small fee for work to get started. Pedal power to the fore! I try to take my bicycle these days instead of driving a few blocks, but the random showers do put a dampener to the whole experience at times.
