Wow, don’t you think we certainly have made plenty of progress when it comes to technology that deals with touchscreen displays, and now, holographic capabilities? Take for example the Holodesk that hails from the folks over at Microsoft Research (MSR). This particular research project comes out of the Sensors and Devices group at Microsoft Research Cambridge, where it allows you to actually manipulate 3D, virtual images using nothing but your hands – but that still won’t solve the missing tactile feedback, but Iron Man and Minority Report scenarios are getting more and more real by the day.
This is not the first and neither is it the only 3D interaction experiment available at the moment, but it does stand out from the rest of the crowd through the use of beam-splitters as well as a graphic processing algorithm that will work in tandem with one another to deliver a far more life-like experience. Why not see the video after the jump for yourself?
