The HTC Explorer was spotted sometime late last month in the wild, and we are glad to say that the device has reared its head once again – this time around, appearing over at the FCC which normally means only one thing – the device is being prepared and polished before it is ready for a mass market release, presumably in the USA. Just in case you have a fetish for model numbers, then you might be interested to know that the HTC Explorer is also known as the PJ03110 in FCC filings, having picked up approval for GSM 850 and 1900 bands, in addition to WCDMA band V.

To sum it up in a nutshell, the HTC Explorer (also known as the HTC Pico in some circles – geez, will they just stick to one name so that it does not get any more confusing?) will be an entry-level Android 2.3 smartphone that will run on a 600MHz Qualcomm processor. Hmmm, I am not quite sure whether that kind of processing speed is going to be able to make the cut these days, what do you think? Other hardware configurations include 512MB RAM and a 3-megapixel camera, which frankly, you hardly hear of these days. No idea on when it will arrive in the US though, and for how much.
