We do know that Future Shop of Canada did actually make a slip when they teased the masses with a sneak peek of the Vox reader from Kobo sometime last week – whether that is done by accident or on purpose, I leave that open for debate. What we do know now is this – the Kobo Vox e-book reader is now official, where it sports a 7″ AFFS+ display at 1,024 x 600 resolution, and somehow the number seven crops up again with a 7-hour battery life (no idea on how they rated it though, so your mileage will most probably vary), 8GB of internal storage space and an SD memory card slot that allows you to up the ante to 32GB.

With Android 2.3 Gingerbread running right out of the box, you need not hang around for a software update. The 800MHz processor is accompanied by 512MB RAM, where there is also a built-in speaker as well as a 3.5mm headphone jack that lets you listen to your favorite tunes without disturbing others. Wi-Fi connectivity is also thrown into the mix to keep up with the rest of the Joneses, and this $200 tablet will ship from October 28th onwards if you’re interested.
