If there is one thing that the iPhone beats out the competition on, it would be software updates that are uniform – simply because the number of iPhone models are so few, making it easier to introduce such changes. Whereas Android has a gazillion devices out there, an update from Google will need to be tweaked by the carrier as well as hardware manufacturer to make sure it works just fine. Folks living in Europe who own the Atrix have long had to go without Gingerbread, but all of that is going to change soon, as Motorola just announced that the Atrix will be getting Android 2.3 Gingerbread from “mid-November” onwards. Not only that, the Xoom too will be receiving the Android 3.2 Honeycomb update at the end of this month, so those who want to read what Motorola has to say in full can head on after the jump for more information.

Many of you are eagerly awaiting the 2.3 upgrade for Motorola ATRIX and Motorola Milestone 2; as well as 3.2 for Motorola XOOM and we’re pressing ahead to get the new software ready. Due to some additional fixes that needed to be made, we’re now working towards releasing the software for Motorola XOOM at the end of October and for Motorola ATRIX and Milestone 2 in mid-November. We will let you know as soon as we are able to make the software available to you.
