Apple logoWhispers are floating around that Apple intends to have a go in what many think that Google has the upper hand – 3D maps, and how will the fruity company do it? The answer is so easy and simple – just like how they have done it all this while, using superior technology, although I am quite sure their marketing department will also have a say in their attempt to trump Google in the 3D maps game, assuming this rumor is true.

There has been evidence lying around that will not do their part to squash rumors that Apple are no longer working on a 3D mapping surface – on the contrary, the bunch of acquisitions as well as in-house development, not to mention recent whispers of Apple picking up a Swedish 3D mapping company with their vast cash reserves, add to such a rumor.

If C3 from Sweden was really snapped up by Apple, then Google and Microsoft has some cause for concern, as C3 Chief Strategy Officer Paul Smith did mention earlier this year that their maps are 360° explorable, something that Google and Bing (from Microsoft) do not offer.
