Nexus Prime? As most of the rumors had it, Samsung was rumored to unveil the Samsung Galaxy Nexus (a.k.a Nexus Prime) and Google was said to be launching Android Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 next Tuesday at the Samsung Unpacked 2011 event. We’re sure that many are already pretty excited about the impending release of both the phone and the updated OS, especially with images of the Galaxy Nexus surfacing which served only to whet our appetites further.

The bad news is that it looks like either the phone or the OS will be delayed according to a statement released Samsung’s Vice President, Kim Titus:

“Samsung and Google have decided to postpone the Samsung Mobile Unpacked event during the CTIA in San Diego, previously scheduled for Oct. 11. Under the current circumstances, both parties have agreed that this is not the appropriate time for the announcement of a new product. We would ask for the understanding of our clients and media for any inconvenience caused. We will announce a new date and venue in due course.”

It looks like the event has been postponed, although Samsung did not specify why, some are speculating that perhaps it could be due to either Ice Cream Sandwich not being ready, or the Samsung Galaxy Nexus not being ready, or it could be out of respect to the recent passing of Steve Jobs. No word on when Samsung will relaunch the event, but like they said, the new date and venue will be announced soon, so check back with us for more news about that.
