Sure we have seen our fair share of green vehicles, where regardless of whether they are hybrid or fully electric people movers, they certainly do their part in making sure the environment is harmed far less than your ordinary gas guzzler. Well, what about larger modes of transportation such as buses – don’t they deserve a crack at saving the earth as well? Manufacturer Trans Tech Bus might do something about it with their eTrans electric-only bus that will transport kids to and fro school in a green way.

This 42-passenger school bus will sport a 120-kW (161 horsepower) electric motor that is powered by a pair of 278-volt lithium-ion battery packs, where the eTrans will boast of an auxiliary unit that will be fueled by either compressed natural gas or propane, where that too will power the bus’ heating and air conditioning systems. Depending on the operating conditions, the eTrans is said to be able to have a working range of 100 to 130 miles on a full charge, and the fastest it can go would be 50mph – guess you can’t make a movie like ‘Speed’ out of this, right?

No idea on pricing, but it is said to be “priced competitively” when it rolls out sometime in the middle of next year onwards.
