ASUS Transformer Prime now up for pre order The ASUS Transformer Prime tablet is expected to see a stateside launch by the end of the year although an exact date has yet to be set. However if you can’t wait for an exact date to be announced before placing your order, CDW has already started to accept pre-orders for the upcoming quad-core tablet and has priced it at a whopping $536.99 for the 32GB model, while Amazon’s pre-order is being priced at $492.20.

For those who may have forgotten, the ASUS Transformer Prime will not only be ASUS’s first quad-core Android tablet, but very possibly the first quad-core tablet to be released that runs on NVIDIA’s Tegra 3 quad-core processor. It will sport a 10.1” 1280×800 Super IPS LCD display made from Gorilla Glass, 1GB of RAM, 32GB/64GB worth of internal storage, an 8MP camera capable of 1080p Full HD video recording and will run on Android’s Honeycomb 3.2. Android: Android is the mobile operating system from Google. The software was originally built by a company called Android Inc, that was purchased by Google in 2005. Transformer Prime: has for official name Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime. It is a tablet based on a metal-design that has the particularity of docking to a very thin (optional) keyboard dock that turns it into a small instant-on Android laptop, hence the name "Transformer". The concept was introduced with the first Eee Transformer. The Transformer Prime is powered by a quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 3 SoC and has ample room for storage expansion with a microSDXC built-in port, and the keyboard's SDXC port.
