India – an extremely colorful country that also has a billion plus inhabitants living within its borders, holding one of the seven wonders of the modern world, is also a hot bed for technology, with many world class programmers hailing from Hyderabad. Well, the country did introduce what they call the cheapest tablet PC in the world (the Akash), and that effort has also resulted in a bunch of Indian teens working on a different tablet device. Hailing from (where else) but Hyderabad, two boys Sareddy Chiman Prakash and Nikhil worked on a tablet PC that they call “Ave”, where it is powered by Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

Ave was rolled out by IT and Communications Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Ponnala Lakshmaiah, and it will be manufactured by UK based Sareddy Technologies. It is rather interesting to note that neither of the boys received any form of formal education where PC building is concerned, but rather, took on this dream project out of personal interest – and I must say, they also have the talent to pull it off! Other hardware specifications of this tablet include a 1.2GHz processor, Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity, 8GB of internal memory, an SD memory card slot and a 7″ display – all crammed into a body that measures a mere 360 grams. Expect it to retail for around $250 when available.
