Commodore USA literally gets extreme with their latest release, the C64x EXTREME which somehow or rather, manages to achieve quite the healthy balance between the old and the new. This is the third variant of the C64 (much to the delight of numerous fanboys out there), where it will boast the 1980s flair of yore, albeit carrying nothing but 21st century specifications within.

Underneath the hood lies a rather formidable Intel Core i7 2.2GHz quad-core CPU that can be turbo boosted to 3.3GHz if you so desire,8GB of DDR3 RAM, Intel HD integrated graphics and a rather generous 2TB hard drive. On the outside, Commodore has certainly kept up with the times, delivering two USB 3.0 ports, a trio of USB 2.0 ports as well as an eSATA connection. Other connectivity options include HDMI, 3.5mm S/PDIF, VGA and DVI ports.

Heck, you will definitely be able to live out the wireless lifestyle with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi thrown into the mix as well – hard to tell from such a demure front, no? It is going to burn a $1,500 hole in your pocket for the C64x Extreme, but you have been warned. Orders placed by November 25th will be shipped before Christmas. [Press Release]
