Heard of LoveFilm before? I would suppose if you live in the UK, you would definitely answer with a resounding “Yes!”, considering this is a UK media rental service. Well, we are pleased to announce to our dear readers who live across the pond that LoveFilm has rolled out its first official Android application, where it will be made available to compatible Android-powered smartphones, enabling owners of said phones to manage their rental list as well as browse listings of more than 70,000 titles – ranging from films to TV series as well as games.

We do know that LoveFilm is wholly owned by online retail giant Amazon, and they already have an iOS application launched to date. The Android offering will be rather similar to what is available on the iOS, although the iOS version currently only supports streaming on the iPad in addition to the browser, TV and PS3. Unfortunately, support for other operating systems and devices are not unavailable at the moment. With the LoveFilm By Post for Android, you can check out trailers, view ratings and reviews, and even connect to your rental list to modify it.

Trials are currently underway, where you can input the promotional code ‘ANDROID01′ to enjoy 30-days of free membership for the rental service. Basically, it has been specially optimized for devices that are powered by Android 2.2 Froyo or higher with a HVGA (320 × 480 pixel) display.
