Have you ever played with any MechWarrior game in the past? I remember back in the days where the “SX” and “DX” suffix meant something for your desktop machine, and a Pentium ran MechWarrior II beautifully, while my 486DX 33Hz plodded along painfully. How times have changed since then, and the thought of manning one of these metal beasts still remain etched in memory. Perhaps with the rollout of MechWarrior Online. I might be able to get my Mech fix?

This reboot of the MechWarrior series is being prepared to roll out officially next year, albeit for the moment, it is a free-to-play title just like how the developers want to leave it at for the moment. As there are legal conflicts involved in making console versions, MechWarrior Online will right now be available on the PC as a multiplayer game on an exclusive basis.

The online part of the game will see some degree of online persistency which will allow you to fight for control of border planets within the game universe. No idea on whether MechWarrior Online is going to rake in the big bucks, but it does sound like a promising enough premise.
