Environment-aware projectorsIt looks like Disney isn’t the only ones who are having fun experimenting with interactive handheld projectors. The folks over at Microsoft seem to be having a good time with them as well. In the latest Microsoft Research posting on technet, the company demonstrated its new Interactive Environment-aware Handheld Projectors on video. The demonstration showed of a few projectors, each one being used in a different purpose, which shows the huge untapped potential in this design space.

For example, in one demonstration, we see a user interacting with the projection itself by using his shadow. The projector itself could affect the way its content was displayed, depending on the orientation of the device. It’s quite hard to describe in detail what can be done with the projectors, so I’ll let the video demonstration explain itself. All I can say is, games can be taken to a whole new level with these creations:
