Good news for Nokia N9 users as the promised PR1.1 MeeGo update is finally being rolled out. The update will be pushed out to N9 users in waves, so don’t be alarmed if you did not receive the notification about the update just yet. Be patient and we’re sure that eventually the update will get around to your handset.

Now this isn’t just a mere bug fix or minor update, but as Nokia had promised back then, the PR1.1 update will be bringing a slew of new features and improvements to the Nokia N9, Nokia’s first and last MeeGo handset, so in a way we guess we should be happy that Nokia is still pushing out updates for the device.

The update is expected to bring NFC tag reading ability, photo and video shooting with color filters, more powerful multitasking capabilities with better memory handling, Swype, faster Mail for Exchange syncing, noise cancellation to help reduce background noise, charging and calendar indications for the standby screen and a lot more. If all that sounds good, remember to keep an eye out for that notification!
