Nokia N8We know that Nokia will be focusing on making Windows Phone devices, and will continue to support Symbian for a few more years, but it looks like the company will also be manufacturing new high-end phones running on Symbian too. According to rumors, Nokia is working on a new flagship camera phone – a successor to the Nokia N8 (which was known for its camera). Apparently the Nokia N9 or Lumia 800 aren’t going to cut it when it comes to imaging for Nokia.

Rumors place the N8 successor as a phone with a bigger camera sensor, optical zoom, a 3.5″ WVGA CBD with Gorilla Glass, a 1GHz processor, 512MB of RAM, and will be running on Symbian. The phone is said to be scheduled for a Q2 2012 release, and could be launched at the MWC in February 2012. Apparently the reason for choosing Symbian over Windows Phone has been due to the fact that Windows Phone Tango isn’t able to handle Nokia’s “camera wizardry” yet.

If that is the case, does that mean we can’t won’t see Nokia Windows Phones with awesome cameras until the later part of 2012? Doesn’t sound like the best strategy for Nokia to have if they plan to push WP devices instead of Symbian. How important is a phone’s camera to you?
