Wow – this is interesting, is Samsung being the gentleman in the spat with Apple, by confirming that they will not be doing anything to block the sale of the iPhone 4S in South Korea? This is certainly refreshing, as Samsung was previously attempting to counter Apple’s lawsuits against Samsung’s products in other countries, and perhaps Samsung’s stance here is meant to avoid negative publicity as there will always be a segment of Apple fans no matter where you go, so why bother antagonizing them? According to a senior Samsung executive, “We concluded that we should engage in legal battles with Apple only in the global market, but not in order to gain more market share in Korea.”
Do you think Samsung’s strength at home with their solid base of products such as the Galaxy S2 will be enough to make sure only a minimal number of iPhone 4S handsets are sold in that part of the world? Only time will tell, but as we all well know, Samsung’s attempt to ban sales of Apple devices in Holland failed miserably.
